Yes, so long as the floor is in good condition. Natural wood and man made derivatives will move under load, temperature, humidity or a combination of these factors. Tiles are rigid and do not bend or flex so if they are subjected to stress from the background they may eventually break. Existing floorboards, MDF or chipboard will probably requre strengthening. All floor and wall bases should be as level and rigid as possible. In many cases we will recommend the use of ditra matting. Ditra mat will reduce movement, reduce sound generation and will waterproof the substrate.
